  • Best bass fishing is around the numerous shallow weedbeds that are on the underwater hills and humps. The bottom is sand and gravel with many shallow humps in open water. There are smallmouth in Wawasee, as well as some Northern Pike. In the spring, many fish are caught in the canal and on Syracuse Lake, which connects with Wawasee via a canal. Topwater baits are very popular and succuessful in the early mornings.
