Patoka Lake Description

Patoka Lake offers fun for all. There is a large campground, two large marina's. Cabin and boat rentals are very popular. The lake is popular with fisherman and offers many quiet coves to explore. There is no Patoka Lake State Park, but the area is abutted by Hoosier National Forest and several State Recreation Areas. There are miles of hiking trails, biking trails, and loads of shopping opportunities. Patoka Lake is Indiana's 2nd biggest Reservoir. Patoka Lake is not a state park. It is managed by Indiana DNR. It is owned and built by US Army Corps of Engineers. Patoka Lake has the highest density of cabin and boat rentals in Indiana. Patoka lake is widely known as Indiana's best Bass and Crappie fishing lakes. Now the stripers are beginning to really come into their own. Located approximately 65 miles west of Louisville, KY, the major recreation area is west of the intersection of IN 64 and 145.

Patoka Lake is the second largest reservoir in Indiana and is spread across Dubois, Crawford, and Orange counties in southern Indiana.
